biography
Titus J. Lantos talks about his birth: “I was born prematurely, barely weighing more than a kilo, ready for primary school. A nurse put me in an incubator against the recommendation.” Titus J. Lantos' father was a teacher critical of the system and was transferred from Burgenland to Slovenia, where he was able to survive in the midst of partisans with his language skills. On the run from the Russians who were breaking through near Rechnitz, he remembers, he fled into the forests with many locals, and then, as a child, he provided food for the family by begging from the Russians. After his teacher training, he went to Germany after looking for a job in vain, then came back to the Austrian Empire and, through “Father Koren”, found a job in Pischelsdorf together with his wife. As a musician, he traveled a lot around the world, built up an impressive collection of instruments, vigorously promoted the Kulm Celtic Museum, began writing poems after his mother's early death, as he says as a work of mourning, and has published seven books so far, including “The Road of the wandering souls - the experiences of a Styrian Celt on the Way of St. James", "Wolf season and lamb spring - a Danube family saga", "One branch is enough, poetry soul birds, poetry," an eighth book is in the making.
